As worship leaders and worship team members, we have such a great privilege and responsibility to help people experience the life-changing presence of God on a weekly basis. This mission can get lost in the execution of notes, song forms, and production cues. What starts as a genuine desire to worship Jesus and help our congregations experience His presence can quickly become a hyper-focus on excellence that loses the heart behind why we stepped on stage in the first place. While excellence in worship and production ARE important and honor God, a desire for excellence should never overshadow a genuine desire to experience the presence of God
